23: Bearfoot Beware - Trellum
Ace video & song from this Leeds lot. Been quiet since their Futuresound escapades last year but good to see they’ve been working on ace stuff.
22: STNNNG - Grand Island, Neb.
The vocals, lyrics & build of this song are perfect. The repetition at the end is stunning, I don’t want it to end.
21: Nine Inch Nails - Came Back Haunted
Sexy. Dark. Creepy. Everything NIN should be. Becoming more & more obsessed with this band as I listen more.
20: Spectrals - Get A Grip
Bit disappointed with these at Beacons but still in love with this song. Maybe I was expecting too much but it was just extremely tame live. Doesn’t take away from how good this song is though. Ignore all my negative opinions.
19: Bosnian Rainbows - Turtle Neck
One of the best live bands I’ve seen in 2013 & probably my life. If you get a chance to see them do it. Floor crawling, wall dancing, shoe on hand wearing insanity. This isn’t representative of their sound but is still stunning.
18: Battle Lines - Colonies
I’ve been hit & miss with Battle Lines tracks in the past but this is brilliant. Like the video but more than anything it’s the track.
17: Robert Mitchum - From A Logical Point Of View
The advice may be sound but I’m not sure I’d ever take it. Logic isn’t always right. One of the greatest & most fun, upbeat, party, dancing songs ever.
16: Mikal Cronin - Change
Two astounding albums & work with Ty Segall. He was probably the best thing I saw at Beacons this year. Blew me away. Wasn’t sure on this video at first but love it now.
15: ARROWS OF LOVE - THE KNIFE
Live shows sounds mental. Missed them at Oporto this year but will try & catch them next time they’re about. Love the subtlety as it opens up & then blows up further in.
14: Danny Brown - Radio Song
Was ace at Beacons & bringing something new to Hip Hop when it’s getting stale.
